Celebrity Baby Birthday Bashes

27 Aug

From the day they are born you know they are going to be spoilt rotten, and despite the fact that they are only 1 years old, you can’t help but feel a little jealous.

We have been green with envy looking at the best celebrity baby birthday bashes that have been thrown over the last few years, and felt sorry for ourselves when all we got this year was a birthday card, signed by everyone, rather than individual personalised cards. Sob!

Here are a few celebrity birthday bashes that we wish we were invited too.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony

Twins Max and Emme kept their children’s party simple inviting all their friends to their home were they held a traditional child’s birthday party with balloons, birthday cakes, clowns and party food. A far cry from their over the top parties, but we are sure they didn’t do it on the cheap!

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

Suri Cruise’s superstar parents spoilt her rotten on her 2nd birthday. The couple reportedly spent $100,000 on a butterfly themed party which included lavish flower arrangements, a cake for Suri decorated with butterflies, a personalised cake for each guest and a lavish sit down dinner for the adults.

Britney Spears and ex husband Kevin Federline

A joint birthday party for Jayden and Sean Preston in September 2008. The car truck themed party featured personalised licence plates for the guests and a cake while the boys cruised around in the mini motorised cars.

If you cannot afford personalised birthday cakes and number plates then why not send a free personalised card with ecards.co.uk.

A weekend in London

09 Aug

Next month a group of my friends and I are all heading down to London for the weekend. Because we live in a very small town in the north of England, it’s not often that we get to see the bright lights of a major city. Manchester is just a bit too far away to get to on a regular basis, and of course, although it is a great city, it will be nice to go somewhere completely different.
For the most part, we are all looking forward to hitting the west end more than anything else. We managed to find a hotel right in the middle of the west end which wasn’t too expensive, which means that all of the great things you can do in the west end will be right on our door step.
On the first night I think that we will concentrate on getting to know the local area, and we will probably head to one of the famous clubs in the area, and do a bit of celebrity spotting! Of course all of the days are going to be dedicated to shopping, with Covent Garden’s independent clothes retailers a definite!
The second night will be a Saturday night, and that will be the main night of the weekend for us. We have already managed to find some cheap tickets for the theater online, so the evening will revolve round our trip to see Chicago! We really can’t wait, and we’ve heard that there are a number of lovely little restaurants in and around the theatre we are visiting.
Our London trip should be absolutely fantastic. As much as anything, it will be great to get away from it all for a while, and the bright lights and excitement of London are the perfect antidote when a bit of boredom starts to creep into your life.

Blockbusters (Toys From Recent Movies, Etc)

24 May

Every year, there will be at least one or two big movies with licensed toys packing the shelves. These are the Hot Toys, the ones that every kid absolutely HAS to have.

Sometimes, these toys have a real lasting appeal. Some of us still treasure the memories of playing with our Ninja Turtles, or we still own our Jurassic Park dinosaurs (Geez, are we really parents already?!).

But then, there are some toys that come and go in the blink of an eye. These ones wind up in the bargain bin at the toy store a month after the film leaves theatres, and most kids lose interest just as quickly. Remember the movie Congo? Yeah, neither do the kids who owned all of the action figures way back when.

With licensed toys, the basic rule that applies to storytelling also applies to buying toys. The only characters that really matter are the ones that we’ll still remember years after seeing the movie. Even parents can name half the cast of Finding Nemo, we’ll probably always have a soft spot in our hearts for Wall-E, every single one of Jim Henson’s Muppets, and Indiana Jones. All of those properties had toys packing the shelves, and many of us still own our childhood favourites. The reason why is simple: Those were interesting, endearing characters. When movie producers make a film with dollar signs in their eyes, hoping to sell a lot of toys at the expense of telling a good story, you wind up with Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin, which tanked so bad, in both box office and toy sales, that the Batman movie franchise actually had to take a near decade-long hiatus.

We’re not saying you need to tell your kids what to like. Heck, some kids loved Batman & Robin, there’s nothing wrong with that. Get your kids what they like. Just bear in mind that a lot of the buzz and the hype surrounding these summer blockbusters is generated by the studios in hopes of suckering parents into buying junky toys that the kids probably won’t even like.

If there’s one piece of advice we can give on this subject; don’t buy your kids the toys until they’ve seen the movie.

It’s not uncommon for kids to see the commercials for a movie and say “That looks fun!” They ask for all the toys and even clip out the proof of purchase cards on the back of the packages and send away for the mail-order secret decoder ring. Then… they actually watch the movie, and… it winds up being kind of boring. They put all the toys in a box, put the box under the bed, and forget all about it. Then a month or two later, they get the decoder ring in the mail, and they say “what the heck is this?” You could name dozens of movies like this off the top of your head, if it weren’t for the fact that you’ve already forgotten that they exist!

That’s how it can be with hype sometimes. It’s easy to buy into, even when the characters the toymaker is selling aren’t really all that interesting. Character toys are all about coming up with new stories for your favourite fictional characters. If the characters are boring or clich

6 Tips On Renting Movies From Blockbuster

04 Mar

Trying to find a movie rental at your local Blockbuster may cause some people to get frustrated. Within this article I will detail some tips that will make the movie finding process a lot smoother.

By follow just a few of these tips will ensure a fast and easy way of finding movies at your local Blockbuster. Also it will help you get new releases as well as hard to find movies. Blockbuster carries thousands of titles and games and having some general knowledge will help you in your movie viewing entertainment. So let’s get to the tips.

Tip 1: Alphabetized Shelfs

All the movies at your local Blockbuster are going to be in alphabetical order. I’m sure there are thousands of reasons why they do this, but if you know the movies that you’re looking for, then you don’t have to spend hours looking for a movie. Now for the movies that start with a number like the movie 12 Monkeys, Its not going to be under the M’s for monkeys or even under the T’ for Twelve, it’s going to be in the being of right before the A’s. Numbers before letters. One other thing to keep in mind are tie-in, these are movies that ether have the same actor in a new release or are closely similar, which means if a movie is going to be somewhere on the new release wall. 12 Monkeys mite be a tie-in for the movie 16 Blocks. Bruce Willis stars in both of them.

Tip 2: Finding Information Online

Blockbuster’s website is not just for online members. Everybody can use Blockbusters website for find out movie information. Blockbuster website offers when movies are to be released and it can help recommending a movie that you haven’t heard of. Along with movie reviews, there is a lot of movie info there.

Tip 3: Forgetting your Blockbuster Card

If you’re like me and have a lot of card in your wallet or purse, then forgetting your blockbuster card can and in many cases be very frustrating. You many even have to fill out a new application for a Blockbuster account. Next time you go to Blockbuster, bring back at least one movie rental and when you get there don’t drop it in the drop box. Keep the movie with you and give them both to the cashier. Returning movies this way will insure that you’ll never have to fill out a application again, Also it makes sure that the movies that you rented will get turn in and you don’t have to pay any late fees.

Tip 4: Is this for Sale or for Rent

Every Blockbuster has hundreds of movies rental that they don’t need anymore, so they try to sell them. They have special like 4 movies for $20 & 2 for $20. Because not ever customer is going to put things back where they belong. There are going to be some moves that are for sale in the rental area. Make sure if you’re just trying to rent movies you have rental in your hand. If you get confused don’t be afraid to ask a employee.

Tip 5: Not All Blockbusters are Alike

Understand that not all Blockbusters are connected. This because that some Blockbuster are franchise and some stores are corporate owned. I don’t know why, but to me this causes more problems then it solves. This is a simple fix, all you have to do is remember tip 3 and it will solve this problem.

Tip 6: Checking the wall for In-store Info.

In every Blockbuster there will be a wall that has some information on it. This info consists of how much the movie rentals are and what new releases are going to be coming out. Knowing how much you’re really to spend and if the movie that is about to come out will help you keeps in your movie budget. For new releases are put out every Tuesday and it is always first come first served. So get there as early as possible.

Remembering just some of these tips will help in getting the movies you want. Tip number 3 is probably the most important tip out of all of them. This alone will save you time and money.

Become a Multimedia Artist Or Animator and Work on Summer Blockbusters

12 Feb

This summer’s hottest movies-Shrek, Toy Story 3, Despicable Me-are making headlines for their hilarious plots and celebrity cameos. (After all, who doesn’t want to hear Tom Hanks revive his iconic role as Woody or Steve Carrell play a supervillain trying to steal the moon?)

But the real stars may just be the men and women working behind the curtain. While celebrities lend their voices and acting talent, it’s the multimedia artists and animators who make the characters, landscape and movie plots come to life.

The days of hand-drawn animation stills are long gone. While the initial concepts for a cartoon may be done by hand, today’s multimedia artists and animators use computer screens and complex programming codes to bring Buzz Lightyear, Princess Fiona and all the rest to life rather than pens and paper.

Their ability to blend this unexpected combination of artistic creativity and specialized computer skills make these professionals a hot commodity. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for animators and multimedia artists will only grow as we become more and more accustomed to three-dimensional, realistic graphics in our movies, video games, and even on TV. There may also be future job opportunities in mobile technologies, scientific research, and other design services.
